Functional Assessment

Your first session at Equilibrium starts with a 10 point Musculoskeletal screening and assessment of medical history, to determine anappropriate rehabilitation plan and to flag problem areas. This is important as it allows us to implement an exercise program designed specifically to your needs. Our goal is to focus on what you want but also what you need to stay or become injury free. The assessment allows us to identify weak and tight muscles and ensure the development of a safe and progressive exercise program.

Personal Training

Whether your goal is to get back on track, if you need guidance to improve your fitness level or have no experience and are looking for a safe way to start your fitness journey, our Personal Training Program will help you to get there.

The programs are specifically created to your needs. After your functional assessment we will be able to design a clear, easy-to-follow program created taking into account your health and objectives.

Post rehab Programs

Our post rehab program provides a much needed service for those who are out of the acute stage of injury but are not yet able to handle daily activities normally. We are trained to create a specific exercise program aimed at your injury or condition and it will allow you to work on it at home or your gymnasium.

Kinesio Taping

The practise of Kinesio taping was introduced to the United States in 1995, and then Europe in 1996. Kinesio athletic tape can only be applied by a specialist in the field who is certified to do it and who has a background in kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology. Kinesio tape has a wave-like pattern which is purposely adhered to mimic the skin and fingerprints and allows the tape to breathe. If properly applied, it can be used for anything from chronic pain to menstrual cramps. It is extremely strong and can be applied with different tension strengths. Kinesio Tape can be used to: correct muscle function; help strengthen weak muscles; improve blood and lymph circulation; reduce pain by neurological suppression; reposition subluxated joints, relieve tension of abnormal muscles and fascia, help restoring muscle function and fascia.

Pilates reformer

We offer Pilates reformer sessions as part of your conditioning or active rehab program. Pilates is a method of exercise created by Joseph Pilates in 1920s, that consists of low-impact exercises that improve core strength, stability, posture, balance, and mobility.

Research shows that Pilates Reformer exercises performed once per week for 10 weeks resulted in reduced fall risk, significant improvements in static and dynamic balance, functional mobility, improvements in lumbar extensor and scapular stabilizer strength.

ICBC - Active Rehab

If you have been in a car crash (MVA) after April 01st, 2019 and have an active claim number, whether or not the injured person was responsible for the crash, you might be eligible for Kinesiology sessions.

You are pre-approved for up to 12 Kinesiology sessions as long as you start your sessions within 12 weeks after the MVA.  No referral necessary, and we will direct bill ICBC. All we need is your claim number, and some information to contact ICBC.

If you were in a MVA and the 12 weeks early intervention period has lapsed, we will have to ask your claim specialist for session’s approval, a referral from a health care provider ( Physiotherapist, chiropractor or Physician) for Kinesiology sessions might be necessary.

Prior to your first Active Rehab session, you must be eligible and approved for funding from ICBC. Please send us your claim number, Day of birth, day of MVA and we’ll check with ICBC if you are approved.

Extended Health / Insurance Coverage

Some plans cover Kinesiology sessions, but it depends on the plan itself, and what you have for health benefits.  Some insurers like Great West Life, Pacific Blue Cross, Desjardins, and Manulife, to name a few have covered Kinesiology sessions in the past. So please contact your extended health plan insurer or ask your Human Resources department to check into it for you.
